It’s spring. It’s time celebrate as we enjoy the rebirth that happens every spring—buds come on trees, flowers start to sprout, and we come out of our indoor hibernation to enjoy the great Canadian tradition of enjoying a good barbecue on our decks and outdoor patios.

Unfortunately, unlike us, who are free to hibernate indoors through the inclement weather, your outdoor wood deck, fences and structures had to stay outdoors and take the brunt of what mother nature brought upon us. Your garden might be springing to life just as your woodwork looks like it’s died a slow death. So what’s the answer?

Get Naked!

Cutek’s wood stripper, called Naked, is a paint and finish remover that will help you rejuvenate your deck, fences, and outdoor wood structures by removing the old paint or finish. This makes sure that there is no barrier between your wood and your new treatment; we’ll talk about that below. Because Cutek’s Naked is biodegradable, partially soluble in water, and is “low odour” it is safer than the traditional methylene chloride (also known as dichloromethane) strippers that can be nasty indeed. How do you use it? Well, think of it this way. If you want to change into your best new dress/suit so that you look terrific, first you have to get naked by taking off your old clothes. Then you have a shower or use a wash cloth, then you put on your new clothes. There you have it. That’s the procedure.

Getting Naked in 4 Easy Steps

Before you start though, like any product you use like this, you want to test it in a non-obvious spot to make sure that the effect you get is what you expected. And of course, get the supplies that you’ll need. They are pretty basic except maybe the power washer, which you can rent if need be. Here’s the list: paint brush, paint container, pressure cleaner or paint scraper, and for large areas, a lamb’s wool applicator and paint tray.

After that it’s as simple as 1, 2, 3 and 4!

Step 1- Apply Cutek Naked evenly with a brush, rubbing into the grain.

Step 2- Reaction time is approx. 30-60mins. Keep area wet by applying more Cutek Naked.

Step 3- Pressure clean or scrape off to remove.

Step 4- Allow to dry, then scrape and sand any bits that have been missed.
